Future Relevancy or Page Rank? by: Erich Sweaney

With all the talk about search engines and relevancy, I came up with some interesting thoughts that I wanted share about where I believe the search engines are heading concerning basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Trying to stay ahead of the search engines, which is nearly impossible, I've been trying to look to the future of SEO while creating web pages following the guidelines of the major search engines.
One of the largest problems the major search engines are dealing with is Search Engine Spam, Adsense Spam, and "Spammy Pages" such as keyword stuffing to gain higher rankings. In guidelines from Google, they mention write your pages for the users, not for the search engines. This statement alone, is a little prediction of the future of what is coming. And in order to stay ahead of the curve with some long term planning, I am suggesting we should take this to heart, and stop using the older SEO methods that eventually will hurt us.

Fresh thinking About Your Blog can turn your new ideas into action by: John Alexander

From a technical point of view, search engines love blogs because there are now literally millions of people writing fresh content, at least daily, sometimes several times a day. Millions of people all sharing their "points of view" on a variety of topics including philosophy on life, politics, health, travel, religion, business, entertainment and much more.

Are you considering creating a new Blog because someone told you that you should really have one? But what type of Blog will you create? There are a variety of different styles of blogging software which are free to set up. But I want to talk more about the concept of your Blog topic and what you will create while in mind your natural talents and inclination. Look to and explore those natural thinking styles to create something pleasing for your audience of readers.

Give some thought to considering your own "thinking style" and making the most of it by fashioning your Blog after your natural thinking style. We all have a little different outlook any issue but there may be some things you could offer to your blog readers, that others could not. Remember, blogs often reflect personality.

Fundamental Differences Between Search Engines And Web Directories

"Search engine" and "Web directory" are two different search services available to the Web community; although they are often mistakenly confused. Search engines have indices that are built up by robots or crawlers; whereas Web directories build up their indices through human editors. Many search engines and directories contain both a computer-generated index and a human generated index, and are referred to as hybrids.

Google, Inktomi, AltaVista, AlltheWeb and the like are all forms of search engines. These search engines write programs known as robots, crawlers and/or spiders that have the following functions: (1) to locate Web pages, (2) to read the contents of the Web pages and (3) report its findings back to the search engine's indices or databases. Many search engines update their index either on a bi-monthly or monthly basis. When Web searchers use a search engine to locate Web sites that are relevant to the keyword search, they are searching the search engine's index. A search engine with a larger and more up-to-date index is a better representation of the information available in the Web.
