How to Build Backlinks by: webconfs.com

It is out of question that quality backlinks are crucial to SEO success. More, the question is how to get them. While with on-page content optimization it seems easier because everything is up to you to do and decide, with backlinks it looks like you have to rely on others to work for your success. Well, this is partially true because while backlinks are links that start on another site and point to yours, you can discuss with the Web master of the other site details like the anchor text, for example. Yes, it is not the same as administering your own sites – i.e. you do not have total control over backlinks – but still there are many aspects that can be negotiated.

Getting Backlinks the Natural Way

The idea behind including backlinks as part of the page rank algorithm is that if a page is good, people will start linking to it. And the more backlinks a page has, the better. But in practice it is not exactly like this. Or at least you cannot always rely on the fact that...

How To Avoid Getting Your Adsense Account Terminated by: David Riewe

Google, being the undisputable leader in search engines from then until now, is placing a high importance on the quality and relevancy of its search engines. Most especially now that the company is public property. In order to keep the shareholders and users of its engines happy, the quality of the returned results are given extreme importance.
For this same reason, doing the wrong things in the Adsense and other forms of advertisements, whether intentionally or unintentionally, will result in a severe penalty, may get you banned and even have your account terminated. Nothing like a good action taken to keep wrongdoers from doing the same things over again.
So for those who are thinking of getting a career in Adsense, do not just think of...

Has the Net Finally Come To a Full Cycle? by: Debra Gravelle

Outside of consistently acquiring enough targeted traffic coming to your website, Lead Generation has been the webmasters second fore most concern in keeping their income streams alive within the reams of survival. You've heard it plenty of times, "The money's in the List".
The next latest buzz is to acquire targeted traffic to come to your website. If the targeted traffic was pinpointed with enough accuracy, in theory that visitor would possibly be interested in purchasing your product or service as well as rendering his/her name and email address for further follow up from you. Ultimately increasing your ROI, return on investment.
Problem is that webmasters have been programmed into believing that they must give away "bonuses" and...

How to succeed as an Affiliate on the Net by: Harvey Segal

When a company has a product or a service that they wish to sell they will often enlist 'affiliates' to do the job of finding customers for them. You may know an affiliate by another name, for example: agent, reseller, associate, communicator. Once the affiliate has managed to get the customer to make an order his job ends. The whole process of handling the order, the collection of payment, the shipping of goods, is done by the company (or distributor).

Who benefits?

This is a tremendous arrangement for both sides. The distributor simply waits for orders to arrive and has no involvement in the marketing phase. The affiliate simply gets a customer, for example, to visit a web site and takes no further part. Commission is paid to the affiliate on the value of orders made. It is the power of the Internet with the possibility of cheap or free advertising for a...

Hiring an SEO by: Lester Boey

Internet marketing is essential to the success of web sites. You can have a professional looking website but what good can it do if internet users are not able to find it when they need your products and services? That is where an internet marketing campaign comes into play.

"Your website has to magically appear before buyers when they need products and services."

Internet marketing is similar to designing websites- it does not require much experience to do a good job, just good knowledge and a keen eye for details. It is fundamentally important for a good internet marketer to...

How To Design A Search Engine Friendly Website by: Arif Hanid

It is important that when you design your website you not only bear in mind what your website requirements are, but also what the requirements are for search engines. Best way to approach this is to remember that search engines don't really care about how nice or complicated your graphics or flash movies are, or how snazzy your javascript is. Instead search engines look at the code behind your page. Therefore if you want to impress a search engine, then your code needs to be nice and easy to read. Now from this I don't mean adding 'comment' tags and breaking the lines of code up with spaces, but to ensure that the elements the search engine is interested in, i.e. Title tag, Description tag, Keyword tag (these days only some search engines really use the keyword tag), Alt tag, are readable near the beginning of the code. Search Engines don't like wadding through lines and lines of javascript to get to the core areas that can help you page's ranking. Therefore careful planning and positioning of your page elements is required.
TIPS:
- If you're using table for laying out your page then make them simple and not too complex.
- Avoid using frames.
- If you need javascripts for navigation purposes, then use smaller scripts to call up the bulk of the javascript from a different file.
- Think twice on how to use graphics make them relevant to your content and use the Alt tag for all images.
- Position the main content of the page before the images, or at least with the images nested between the text.

How Deep into Your Site are the Spiders Crawling? by: Robin Nobles

A robots.txt file is simply a text file that “disallows” (or keeps spiders out) of certain pages or areas of your Web site. For example, if you have a section of your site that’s devoted to your personnel, you can keep the spiders from finding and crawling that entire section by including it in a robots.txt file. If you’ve ever tried to create a robots.txt file by hand, you know that it’s nothing short of tedious, and it’s so easy to make a mistake. So having a program create the file for you automatically is ideal. However, what’s really exciting to me about Robot Manager Pro is how it monitors spider traffic. But first, let’s look at the software as a whole.

At Look at Robot Manager Pro.
The program is simple to use. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll see numbered areas. On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a Quick Help section that explains how to use that portion of the program.

What you’re doing in steps #1-3 is creating your robots.txt file. You’ll tell the program which areas or pages that you want to keep the spiders from crawling, and the software will create the robots.txt file for you and upload it to the root directory of your Web site.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to create a robots.txt file if you don’t want or need to. You can simply use the spider monitoring portion by itself.

How to write an effective Title tag

A search engine is rather like the shopper in the above example. It sees the title on each web page and determines whether this would be a good result to return based on its text. If you search for 'Hi-Fi' it is highly likely that some of the results returned will have 'Hi-Fi' in their title. To be found using the search engines you should optimize your website for a set of keyword phrases. These keyword phrases should be included in your title tag. Suppose I was a website selling Hi-Fi systems, then I would like my website to appear in search engine results when searching with the phrase 'Hi-Fi systems'. If I include 'Hi-Fi systems' in my title tag I will increase the chances that the search engines will find the page and my ranking will be higher. Of course you are not limited to adding only one keyword phrase to your title, I would recommend two perhaps three but be careful not to make it too long. Also remember make it easy to understand and descriptive for a human.

How To Really Profit from Domain Names by: J. Stephen Pope

First of all, many of the truly great domain names are already taken. Second, the dot com bust took some of the wind out of inflated domain name prices. (If you sell your domain name for millions of dollars worth of stock in a publicly traded dot com flop, what is the name really worth?)
The cybersquatter buys domain names totally on speculation. Sometimes he will register names of famous brands, companies, or individuals. Time and again, these domain name speculators learn the hard way that they must respect intellectual property rights. They hope that some large corporation will pay big bucks to them for the use of the company`s own (already trademarked) name. Instead, they end up with threatening letters from a law firm for their attempts at extortion. However, you can still make money from domain names if you are sensible in your approach. Here are some suggestions on ways to profit.

Home Business PC Security for Dummies by: Glenn Murray

You'll also get a lot of these sorts of questions when you first install the firewall. Once you've set up a few rules, they'll go away because the rules will handle most things.

You can also set the firewall to block active content (javascript, activex, etc.) on websites you visit and emails you receive. If you normally visit only trusted websites and you don't get much spam, you don't really need this feature. But if anyone is visiting dubious sites, or if you get a lot of spam, or you're just very careful, it's a useful feature. TIP: If you do a lot of web surfing, configure Outpost so that whenever you visit a new site, it asks you if you want to allow or block active content (select Options | Plug-Ins Setup, then click Settings, then choose the Exclusions tab and check the box at the bottom of the screen "Add Web sites to the exclusions list on the first visit").
